Under Angels' Wings
Intentions—Kalamazoo, Michigan;
Sunday, June 26, 2011, 9:00 and 11:00 am
“Today’s message is about intentions,” I tell the congregation of my church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. “In 2003, I wrote ‘Have Laptop, Will Travel’ on my business card. That was an act of intention. And I’ve been traveling and writing most of the time since.”
The title of my talk is “Under Angels’ Wings.” My initial intention is to tell about people I met on my four-month Oneness Awareness journey in 2010, to speak about the people in eight nations who took me into their homes or under their wings in some way for days or for a moment.
The church’s intention is that speakers also deliver a universal message the congregation can embrace and utilize. So I also talk about the power of the Divine Universe to help us fulfill our intentions.
“Intentions are not what we say but what we do. How many times have we said we’re going to do something but actually done something else?
“Intentions represent our values. Every decision, every action, every investment of time is an expression of values.
“If you want to know what you’ve been intending and what you value, look at what you have now.”
At Unity, we speak of turning situations and problems over to the Holy Spirit, of trusting Divine Providence. For the past seven or eight years, by placing my trust in that belief, I’ve experienced unexpected work, opportunity, and profound human interaction.
After writing “Have Laptop, Will Travel” on my business card, I went to Pennsylvania and Colorado to research and write Peace, Justice, Care of Earth, the biography of John McConnell who founded the original Earth Day on the vernal equinox. That was in 2004.
God took over from there, leading me to:
The title for the collection of stories that I’m composing about this journey is Under Angels’ Wings. The name comes from my interaction with so many angels last year. The name is also my statement of intention to continue traveling under the guidance of all who God sends to foster and fulfill my purpose.
