Oneness Awareness: The Himalayas and Leh
A constant theme of traveling in India is the lure to be there and the desire to be elsewhere. This enigma hit me the hardest when I heard about the flash flood in Leh, which wiped out the commercial district and killed more than 200 people one week after I had left India.
In Leh, I had met merchants with whom I sipped tea and discussed deep philosophies, tireless workers and ancient Tibetan emigres at the Tibetan Children's Village (TCV), the staff and other visitors at the commercial guesthouse
where our entourage stayed.
What has happened to them? I don't know.
Since coming back to the States, I have not been able to reach anyone who had given me an email address. The TCV web site reports they experienced moderate damage and were able to provide food and shelter for others.
What has happened to them? I want to know.
